Jayson Tatum‘s impressive night may have come to an early end.

The six-time All-Star for the Boston Celtics had to leave Monday’s game against the Sacramento Kings after he got undercut by Domantas Sabonis midway through the third quarter.

Sabonis went to close out and contest as Tatum hit his fifth triple of the game and appeared to land under the Celtics forward’s left foot. Tatum immediately went down in pain, clutching his left ankle area.

The Boston star did stay in the game momentarily to knock down a pair of free throws, as Sabonis was called for a flagrant one foul on the play, before exiting to the locker room.

Tatum was later ruled as doubtful to return by the Celtics due to a left ankle sprain.

The 27-year-old is in the midst of another impressive season, averaging 27.2 points, 8.7 rebounds, 5.9 assists and 1.1 steals in 65 games for the defending champion Celtics. After finishing top six in MVP voting the last three seasons, it appears likely he’ll appear on most ballots again as he’s led Boston to a 52-19 record thus far and second place in the Eastern Conference.

Tatum left Monday’s contest with 25 points, eight rebounds and seven assists while shooting five-of-nine from beyond the arc through 27 minutes of action.
