Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers are consulting with doctors and considering alternatives for the center's injured knee. Embiid suffered swelling in his left knee after Saturday's loss to the Brooklyn Nets. Treatment options, including injections, have not resulted in any improvement for Embiid.
Surgery may be an option for Embiid, which would like result in him missing the remainder of the season. The former MVP will undergo further testing early this week to determine the best course of action moving forward.
The Sixers are 20-36 on the season and in 12th place in the Eastern Conference. Philadelphia entered Sunday 1.5 games out of the final spot in the Eastern Conference Play-In Tournament. Offseason addition Paul George is also playing through injuries, including getting painkilling injections to play.
