Lakers fans troll Nico Harrison with hilarious message over Luka Doncic trade

Tuesday night marked the first time that Luka Doncic will be facing the Dallas Mavericks following the blockbuster trade that sent him to the Los Angeles Lakers at the start of the month. Doncic is expected by many to have the biggest of revenge games — especially with perhaps his harshest critic in the entire world, Mavs general manager Nico Harrison, being in attendance for tonight’s contest.
It still remains perplexing that the Mavericks decided to just give up on Doncic and trade him away out of fear that his work ethic and conditioning issues will snowball into worse health conditions in the future, explaining their hesitation when it comes to giving him a supermax contract. But the Mavs’ loss is the Lakers’ gain, and fans in attendance at Crypto.com Arena on Tuesday made sure to rub this fact in Harrison’s face.
As pointed out by Melissa Rohlin of FOX Sports, Lakers fans were screaming “Good trade, Nico! We love you, Nico!” towards the Mavericks general manager when he was walking through the tunnel.

Many have derided Harrison’s decision to trade Doncic away as the worst in the history of the association. After all, how many just willingly give up on a 25-year-old perennial MVP candidate who most recently led the team to the NBA Finals in 2024? It’s one thing if Doncic had asked for a trade, but he didn’t — making it even more confusing that he’s now with the Lakers instead of being a Mavs lifer like Dirk Nowitzki was before him.
Only time will tell if Harrison will be justified in his bet against Doncic, but considering how much Doncic has already achieved through the first six and a half seasons of his career, that doesn’t seem to be a smart gambit.

Lakers fans have always been an ambitious bunch. Search for the name of any superstar talent on Google, and you will stumble upon a photoshop of them wearing a Laker uniform. The same went for Luka Doncic, although most dismissed this as being nothing more than a pipe dream.
But evidently, dreams do come real, as Doncic is now a Laker for the foreseeable future. And it’s all thanks to Nico Harrison and the Mavericks’ decision to bet against him and his long-term health. But knowing Doncic, he will take this slight personally and work harder to prove his former employer wrong.
