The Los Angeles Lakers were able to get a big 134-127 win against the Memphis Grizzlies, and they were led by their three stars, Luka Doncic, LeBron James, and Austin Reaves. Reaves finished with 31 points, seven rebounds, and eight assists, Doncic finished with 29 points, eight rebounds, and nine assists, and James finished with 25 points, six rebounds, and eight assists.
After the game, head coach JJ Redick shared what he thought about their performance and the message that he shared with Reaves, Doncic, and James.
“We challenged all three of them when we get to their three-man actions to play with a little more force and a little more thrust and a little more creativity,” Redick said via ESPN’s Dave McMenamin.
The Lakers have been in a slump in the past games, and though they’ve won some close games, they still haven’t played at the potential that they should be playing. Reaves spoke about the meeting and what Redick instilled in them before the game.
“I think the meeting was just still trying to build that chemistry amongst the three of us to help the team be successful,” Reaves said. “Tonight, it just showed that when we play the right way and trust one another, especially offensively, we can have open looks on almost every possession. … It was really just a conversation about how bad all of us want to win and win at a high level.”
With just a few games remaining on the schedule, the Lakers are trying to win as many games as they can before the end of the season. Since acquiring Doncic, the Lakers have been one of the hottest teams in the league, and as long as they have their Big 3, anything is possible.
The biggest thing they have to worry about is health, and with everybody on the court now down the stretch of the season, they should be able to finish strong.
