Lakers' LeBron James reveals eye-opening outlook on 'respectful' need

The most urgent development that the Los Angeles Lakers have to deal with at the moment is the groin injury that LeBron James sustained during their 111-101 loss to the Boston Celtics on Saturday night. James will be out for at least one to two weeks as a result of this, although the Lakers, a team that has been on a roll as of late, can thankfully turn to Luka Doncic to hold the fort for the meantime.
James’ impact on the Lakers squad cannot be overstated. Not only does he remain one of the best basketball players on planet Earth despite being 40 years of age, he is also the consummate professional, someone who prides himself on being a person his teammates can look up to. In particular, James is very strict with his time, setting an example for his peers by being first to team events.
“That comes from valuing other people’s time just measures how you value yours. If you’re not being respectful, when you’re late or you’re not being respectful of other people’s time, that’s a character thing for me. I’ve always been like that every since I was a kid, setting up my alarm clock when I was in elementary school,” James said in an exclusive one-on-one interview with NBA insider Chris Haynes.

Clearly, James’ self-discipline that began from a young age has paid dividends for him and his family; the Lakers star has taken care of his body like no other basketball player, and it’s not like he’s hogging up a roster spot for the sake of it. Like James said, he does not want to play until the wheels fall off, and he looks so far away from having that happen — thanks in large part to the high standards he’s been setting for himself.
Can Lakers hold on to two-seed despite LeBron James’ injury?
It’s not quite clear yet if LeBron James will return two weeks after sustaining the injury; that might be the initial timeline for his recovery, but at 40 years of age, it might take him longer to return to full strength. And with that, the Lakers will have to navigate a tough stretch without the King.
The Lakers will be facing the Denver Nuggets and Milwaukee Bucks twice in the span of the next 11 days, while they will also be coming up against a desperate Phoenix Suns team looking to rescue its season. Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves will have to step up big time.
