Lakers' Luka Doncic has historically bad performance vs. Nets

Luka Doncic had a brutal shooting night in the Los Angeles Lakers’ game against the Brooklyn Nets on Monday.
In 41 minutes of action, Doncic finished with 22 points, 12 assists, 12 rebounds, and two steals. However, he shot 8-of-26 from the field, including 3-of-10 from beyond the arc.
This marked the second worst shooting game in his NBA career, having missed many shots on a minimum of 25 attempts.
What’s next for Luka Doncic, Lakers
Despite Luka Doncic’s efforts, positive and negative, it wasn’t enough as the Lakers lost 111-108 to the Nets.
The Lakers initially took a 28-16 lead after the first quarter, but the Nets responded with a 32-19 showing in the second quarter. Los Angeles failed to bring the momentum back in their favor, as Doncic and Austin Reaves struggled to shoot the ball throughout the night. They combined for 11-of-40 shooting from the field, including 4-of-15 from downtown.
Aside from Doncic’s triple-double, Gabe Vincent led the team in scoring with 24 points on 8-of-12 shooting overall. Dalton Knecht came next with 19 points, Austin Reaves put up 17 points, 10 assists and eight rebounds, while Jordan Goodwin provided 17 points and eight rebounds.
Los Angeles fell to 40-23 on the season, going down to third place in the Western Conference standings. They are one game behind the Denver Nuggets and 12 games behind the Oklahoma City Thunder.
It also marked their first game without LeBron James. He is absent after suffering a groin strain against the Boston Celtics on March 8. How they handle the next 1-2 weeks without one of their star players will be crucial to their playoff standing.
Following Monday’s loss to the Nets, the Lakers will look to bounce back in their next road matchup. They face the Milwaukee Bucks on March 13 at 7:30 p.m. ET.
