The Los Angeles Lakers rolled to their sixth straight win on Sunday night, picking up a 108-102 win over their crosstown rivals, the Los Angeles Clippers. Luka Doncic starred for the Lakers in this one, but he suffered an injury scare along the way that briefly forced him out of the contest, which led to quite a bit of stress for the team and their fans.
Doncic led the way for Los Angeles, scoring 29 points, dishing out nine assists, and hauling in six rebounds. He had to exit the game due to what appeared to be a right knee injury, but it wasn’t long before he was back in the game for the Lakers. After the contest, Doncic took a second to explain what happened, alleviating fans’ concern in the process.
“Luka Doncic said he got kneed in his right knee, causing him to briefly leave the game tonight. It was sore from repeated collisions. ‘Third straight game, the same spot,’ he said. ‘So, I was kind of struggling on that right leg. But I'm good,'” Dave McMenamin of ESPN shared in a post on X, formerly Twitter.

Doncic only recently returned from a calf injury that kept him off the court for six weeks prior to landing with the Lakers in a blockbuster deal before the trade deadline. As a result, the team has been cautious with their new star player, only recently lifting his minutes restriction and allowing him to play back-to-backs, so seeing him get banged up already is a bit concerning.
The good news is that Doncic’s knee appears to be fine, as he managed to return to the game and help L.A. coast to yet another victory, with this one pushing them up to the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference. They will look to win their seventh straight game on Tuesday night when they return to action against the New Orleans Pelicans.
