Luka Doncic is getting more and more at ease with his new surroundings. While his former team, the Dallas Mavericks, is in shambles amid injuries and losses, he and the Los Angeles Lakers are humming loudly.

With their 136-115 demolition job of a victory at home over the New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday night, the Lakers have extended their win streak to seven games — the longest current undefeated run among Western Conference. Only the Cleveland Cavaliers, who have won all of their last 11 games, have a longer such streak in the entire NBA.

Once again, Doncic provided a big performance for Los Angeles, delivering 30 points to go along with 15 assists and eight rebounds, plus a block and steal in 34 minutes. He’s also been shooting a lot better of late than in the early goings of his time with Los Angeles, as he’s shot 18-for-36 in the last two LA games.

Adding to Doncic’s big night was the historic feat he accomplished on the court. The 26-year-old Slovenian became just the first player in the history of the Lakers franchise to amass at least 30 ponts, eight rebounds, 15 assists, six 3-pointers and a plus-37 in a single game, according to StatMuse.

The Pelicans game was the third game in a row where Doncic scored at least 29 points and fourth with at least 21. The five-time NBA All-Star is rounding into form after a slow start with the Lakers, a scary thought for the rest of the league, with Los Angeles transforming into a seemingly much more dangerous unit than the one with Anthony Davis.

But Luka Doncic did not have to carry the Lakers all by himself against the Pelicans. As usual, four-time NBA Most Valuable Player LeBron James was in his form, pacing Los Angeles with 34 points on 10-for-18 shooting from the floor with eight rebounds, six assists, two blocks and a steal in just 33 minutes. He also hit the 50,000-point milestone in the same game.

Much has been said about James’ staying power in the NBA, and his effort and ability to produce even at age 40 could be serving as an inspiration as well for Doncic.

The Lakers will take a rest this Wednesday before getting back to it on Thursday when the New York Knicks visit Crypto.com Arena.
