Luka Doncic made his Los Angeles Lakers debut on Monday night, helping his new squad grab a blowout win over the lowly Utah Jazz at Crypto.com Arena.

Following the contest, Luka of course met with the media and was surprised just how many reporters were in the postgame presser.

“Luka Doncic walking out to his postgame presser: ‘Oh, shit. That's a lot of people.'”

Yes, Luka. You’re in a bigger market now. While the Dallas Mavericks have grown in popularity over the last decade, they aren’t the Lakers. This organization has extensive coverage, and every reporter in Southern California is there to get quotes for each game, especially in Doncic’s first contest with the team.

The superstar played just 23 minutes in his first game since Christmas Day. He put up 14 points, five rebounds, and four assists, going 1 for 7 from three-point land. It was just a glimpse into what we’re going to see from Luka in a Lakers uniform. He showed solid chemistry with LeBron James as well. It’s going to be fun to watch this partnership develop over the second half of the campaign.

The Lakers are feeling it right now, winning six in a row. On both ends of the floor, this club is clicking, and adding Luka to the fold makes them a scary matchup for any team. While defense remains an issue and their hole at the five, Bron and Luka could definitely get LA into the playoffs regardless.

As for the Mark Williams fiasco, it does appear the Lakers could still find another big to replace Anthony Davis. I mean, they have to. Jaxson Hayes is not enough. Daniel Thies and Mo Bamba are a couple of options, although the latter was disappointing in his first stint with the Purple and Gold.

The Lakers are back in action Wednesday, but this time they will visit the Jazz.
