After his breakout season, Tyrese Maxey gets his first big NBA payday.

The reigning Most Improved Player has agreed to a four-year, $204-million contract with the Philadelphia 76ers, as reported by Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN and Shams Charania of The Athletic on Monday.

Maxey, 23, took a leap in his fourth season after being thrust into the role of undisputed lead guard for the 76ers. He averaged a career-high in points (25.9), rebounds (3.7), assists (6.2) and steals (1.0) and earned his first All-Star selection as a result.

The 21st overall pick in 2021 entered the off-season as a restricted free agent and arguably one of the top point guards potentially available.

Philadelphia put an end to all that noise, however, as they made it clear they would match any offer made by opposing teams. And the 76ers did just that, locking up their franchise's floor general — to pair with former MVP Joel Embiid and newly signed Paul George — for the foreseeable future.

Maxey will look to help Philadelphia make it beyond the second round of the playoffs for the first time since 2001, when Allen Iverson took his 76ers squad all the way to the NBA Finals.
