Nikola Jokic, Jamal Murray, Michael Porter Jr. all ruled out vs. Bucks

The Denver Nuggets will have their hands full against the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday night, as Nikola Jokic, Jamal Murray, Michael Porter Jr., Bones Hyland and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope all popped up on the pre-game injury report, per DNVR Sports’ Harrison Wind. Jokic, likely the frontrunner for the 2023 NBA MVP Award, continues to deal with the effects of a lingering left hamstring injury. It has now been confirmed that he has been ruled out on the second night of a back-to-back set. Murray, who missed the entire 2021-22 season with an ACL injury, will also be sidelined on Wednesday with left knee injury management. Porter, meanwhile, has likewise been downgraded to out just prior to tip-off. While it hasn’t been confirmed, Porter — who missed Tuesday’s game against the New Orleans Pelicans — could be with family. Porter’s brother, Corban, was arrested following a fatal crash on Monday. The good news for the Nuggets is that Bones Hyland is set to suit up against Milwaukee. Caldwell-Pope, however, has also been ruled out. KCP, who the team acquired during the offseason in the trade that sent fan favorites Monte Morris and Will Barton to the Washington Wizards, has played in all but one game for the Nuggets this season. Given the slew of injuries, this game would be a great opportunity for the team’s young players to get reps and develop. Due to the team’s status as a championship contender, it’s not easy for them to get minutes in Nuggets head coach Michael Malone’s rotation. For fans of players like big man Zeke Nnaji, forward Christian Braun, or wing Peyton Watson, this will be quite the entertaining matchup.
