The Denver Nuggets have weighed whether to trade Michael Porter Jr. as they look to remake their roster around Nikola Jokic with a limit of ways to do so, sources tell The Stein Line. The Nuggets explored the possibility of using Porter in a trade for Paul George this past offseason. Denver has since expanded those internal discussions of trading Porter more strongly now.

Zeke Nnaji's $8.8 million salary is the only significant contract the Nuggets could otherwise use for matching purposes.

Sources have also confirmed The Athletic's report that there are supporters of Zach LaVine throughout the Nuggets' front office.

If the Nuggets do decide to trade Porter, there is a thought that it might be better to acquire two rotation players rather than a single one such as LaVine. The Stein Line suggests hypothetical swaps such as Porter to the Atlanta Hawks for De'Andre Hunter and Bogdan Bogdanovic, or to the Brooklyn Nets for Cam Johnson and Dorian Finney-Smith could be the type of one-for-two trade that makes the Nuggets better overall.
