Some Toronto Raptors fans definitely will be thanking the officials for taking a win out of their team’s hands on Saturday.
Jamal Shead‘s apparent buzzer-beater to win was reversed when the officials reviewed the call, as they determined the Raptors rookie did not get the running lay-up out of his hands before the buzzer.
As a result, the Raptors lost 118-117 to the league-worst Washington Wizards at Scotiabank Arena.
The Raptors (21-43) have gone with some obscure lineups in a couple of recent games, with draft-lottery odds potentially becoming more important than wins.
The finishing five for Toronto on Saturday were not household names: Shead, A.J. Lawson, Colin Castleton, Orlando Robinson, and Jared Rhoden.
