Steve Kerr Was Linked To Spurs' Head Coaching Job Before Extending With Warriors

Steve Kerr was linked in league circles as a possible successor to Gregg Popovich as head coach of the San Antonio Spurs, reports ESPN. But Kerr signed an extension with the Warriors for two more seasons and the expectations is that he will remain with the only franchise he's ever coached for as long as Stephen Curry continues his career.
Kerr played for Popovich for four seasons and also served as an assistant coach as part of USA Basketball. Kerr was hired by the Warriors as head coach in 2014 and they've gone on to win four championships. During the 2014 offseason, Kerr also considered becoming head coach of the New York Knicks under Phil Jackson.
Popovich's future as head coach of the Spurs is uncertain as he continues his recovery from a stroke.
