Golden State Warriors great Stephen Curry headed to the locker room in Thursday night’s home game versus the Toronto Raptors after landing hard on his tailbone, per The Athletic’s Anthony Slater.
Shortly after heading to the locker room, Curry was ruled out for the rest of the game with a pelvic contusion, according to the Warriors’ PR department.
The 37-year-old point guard was driving toward the basket in the third quarter and collided with Raptors forward Jonathan Mogbo right after he passed the ball. No foul was called and Curry hit the ground with a big thud. He was in obvious pain, holding his tailbone area as the possession continued.
Preserving No. 30’s long-term health is far and away the Warriors’ top priority. Head coach Steve Kerr rested him ahead of Tuesday’s victory over the Milwaukee Bucks after a poor and injury-hampered showing versus the Denver Nuggets a day earlier, but there is little one can do to prepare against a fluky injury like a hard fall.
Curry was in the midst of a big bounce-back outing, scoring 17 points on 6-of-8 shooting in 25 minutes before exiting. This is a developing story.
