The Spurs can equal their longest win streak of the season tonight
Welcome to the Game Thread. Veterans of the Game Thread know how we do things around here, but for all you newbies we have a few rules. Our community guidelines apply and basically say be cool, no personal attacks, don't troll and don't swear too much.
The Spurs don't get an actual home game against the Pistons this season, they played once in Austin on the day after finding out that Victor Wembanyama was out for the season. Despite a terrific outing the night before against the Suns at the Moody Center, the Spurs were easily dispatched by the fresher Pistons in a 125-110 blowout loss. The Pistons are coming off of a 136-130 win over the Pelicans on the same night that the Spurs were tearing the doors off the arena in a 123-89 blowout of the Toronto Raptors.
Tonight will be a tougher contest for the Silver and Black as they face the Pistons, led by Cade Cunningham who is finally living up to the hype after being drafted first overall in 2021. He's questionable tonight, but even without Cunningham, the Motor City cagers have plenty of horsepower, with Jalen Duren, Tobias Harris and Ausar Thompson all dangerous on both ends of the court. The Spurs have been playing freely since losing their two best players and have have some outstanding performances for Devan Vassell, Keldon Johnson, Jeremy Sochan, and the always steady Harrison Barnes. If the Spurs can get a win tonight, they can equal their season-best four victories in a row, which would be nice, as they are about to embark on the toughest stretch of the season, as they face a gauntlet of playoff teams over the next couple of weeks. There are only a dozen games left to play for the Spurs, so let's keep an eye on the skies. You never know when the next Mamu miracle might occur, so you know you want to watch every minute of tonight's game.
Game Prediction:
Blake Wesley will set a record for most steals from a player coming off the bench in a game.
One final word:
GO SPURS GOOOO!!!
