The Spurs start the Rodeo Road Trip in Memphis
Welcome to the Game Thread. Veterans of the Game Thread know how we do things around here, but for all you newbies we have a few rules. Our community guidelines apply and basically say be cool, no personal attacks, don't troll and don't swear too much.
It was a pretty eventful weekend for the Spurs which started off in a disappointing fashion as the Heat beat the Silver and Black with a midrange shot from Bam Adebayo that went through the Net as time expired. Things got better on Sunday night as the news came out that the Spurs had acquired De'Aaron Fox from the Sacramento Kings for backups and draft picks. Fox isn't expected to play tonight, and with Tre Jones on his way to the Bulls, it is likely that we'll see a lot of Blake Wesley tonight as the primary backup to Chris Paul.
The Spurs have already played the Grizzlies twice this year—they routed the Spurs twice in a row in a span of two days on January 15-17, with the play that Memphis fans talk about most is a dunk well after the whistle by Morant on Wenbanyama. The Spurs will play the Grizzlies twice on the Rodeo Road trip, as they bookend the trip with the first and last game. Victor Wembanyama is questionable tonight, with the illness that kept him out the Heat game still lingering. Hopefully he can play tonight and show Ja Morant how you play when it counts. It will be interesting to see if Mitch Johnson continues to play smallball with Jeremy Sochan against Jaren Jackson Jr. or plays Charles Bassey, who is the only traditional big left on the team, except for Victor, who isn't exactly a traditional anything. Let's watch and find out.
Game Prediction:
Blake Wesley scores his first career double double with steals and points.
One final word:
GO SPURS GOOOO!!!
