San Antonio looks to even the record at 2-2 for the current road trip
Welcome to the Game Thread. Veterans of the Game Thread know how we do things around here, but for all you newbies we have a few rules. Our community guidelines apply and basically say be cool, no personal attacks, don't troll and don't swear too much.
The Spurs survived an anemic 11 point first quarter in Brooklyn on Friday night and won a low-scoring rockfest 96-87. It was the Silver and Black's first win on the year where they scored less than 100 points, which they managed by somehow limiting the short-handed Brooklyn team to their lowest point total of the season.
Tonight they face the Minnesota Timberwolves, who are considerably more dangerous on offense than the Nets, and who have a similar record to San Antonio at 16-14. Although the Wolves struggled earlier this season adjusting to replacing Karl-Anthony Towns with Julius Randle in the starting lineup, they've recently found their stride, most recently beating the Dallas Mavericks (without Luka for half of the game) and the Rockets 113-112 on Friday night.
The matchup between Victor Wembanyama and Rudy Gobert will be interesting to watch as the two French National Team stars take each other on. Both players are elite defenders, but Victor has the advantage on offense, and he should look to take advantage tonight. Sochan has done a great job defending the opponent's best scorer recently, and he may be put on Anthony Edwards tonight, if Julius Randle doesn't go off.
You would think that the Spurs backup centers would finally get off the pine tonight as the Timberwolves play fast, but Mitch Johnson has been channeling Tom Thibodeau recently, and he's decided that you should never let more guys get into the game than you can count on your fingers. It's expected that the only workout that Bassey, Collins, Wesley and Branham [and let's not forget Mamukelashvili] will be towel waving*. Let's hope the 8 or 9 guys who do play have good games, because this will be tough assignment to beat the T-Wolves in front of their home crowd.
At the time of writing, there is news of an issue with the playing court causing a delay in the start of the game. The start time will be updated when I have more information, but hang on, stay tuned, and stay up late to watch your Spurs. Let's go!
* Sidy Cissoko is on assignment in the G-League, so he's going to play basketball.

Game Prediction:
The game will be delayed by Wembanyama's awesomeness.
