It's deja vu all over again as San Antonio faces a depleted Dallas squad for the second time in a couple of days

Welcome to the Game Thread. Veterans of the Game Thread know how we do things around here, but for all you newbies we have a few rules. Our community guidelines apply and basically say be cool, no personal attacks, don't troll and don't swear too much.

It's a rebuilding yearthe team is missing a lot of playersDe'Aaron Fox hasn't gelled yet with the other players on the roster, who aren't used to flipping the plays for a lefty point guard.

Man, there are a ton of reasons why the Spurs are playing poorly now, but when they drop a winnable game at home to a Mavericks team that had their heart torn out by a crazy trade last month and are missing almost everyone except Spencer Dinwiddie and Klay Thompson, those reasons start to feel like excuses. The Mavericks had every reason to roll over and die on Monday night, and instead, they played hard for 48 minutes and spent zero minutes feeling sorry for themselves. That's the kind of attitude I want to see from this Spurs team, especially since they have a much brighter future in front of them than the somewhat cursed Dallas team, who have been reconfigured out of contention for the foreseeable future by some questionable moves by Nico Harrison, the Mavs GM.

The big question tonight is whether the Spurs will be able to make a better showing tonight, or if they will let the short-handed Mavs steal another game from the Silver and Black in their home arena. Who knows, maybe the Spurs are intentionally blowing games now to make marginal improvements in their lottery odds. Whatever happens, we diehard fans are going to watch the games, but maybe one or two games where the team can put together some decent stretches of play would be good? I'm sorry for ranting, but I think that Monday's game broke me. I still love the Spurs, but I'm kind of mad at this iteration. Let's watch and hope for a sign ... of something ... anything.

Devin Vassell is questionable with a wrist injury, Jeremy Sochan is also questionable with a calf contusion, and Charles Bassey continues to be out with knee issues. De'Aaron Fox and Chris Paul will need to have solid games tonight to erase the memory of Monday's poor performance. Keldon Johnson and Harrison Barnes both played well on Monday but they'll need some more support from their teammates for a winning effort tonight. If Vassell doesn't play, Stephon Castle will need to play well on both ends of the court to help the fans forget what happened the last time these two team met. Let's go Spurs!!!

Game Prediction:

Mitch Johnson will use this speech from Cave Johnson as inspiration for his team at halftime. [Note: Cave Johnson is a fictional character from the game Portal II. He's voice acted by JK Simmons.]

One final word:

GO SPURS GOOOO!!!
