The Spurs are looking for their first three-game winning streak of the season
Welcome to the Game Thread. Veterans of the Game Thread know how we do things around here, but for all you newbies we have a few rules. Our community guidelines apply and basically say be cool, no personal attacks, don't troll and don't swear too much.
The Spurs came back in the second half against the Jazz for their second win in a row to improve their overall record to 8-8. Tonight, they could be over .500 for the season with a win, but it's a tough assignment against Steph Curry and the Western Conference leading Warriors. The Warriors had a tough game last night against the injury decimated Pelicans last night to clinch Western Conference Group C in the NBA Cup, advancing to the knockout rounds with one game left to play in the group stage, against Denver.
The Spurs have the rest advantage tonight, and they've taken advantage of that for several of their wins so far. Steph Curry has been dealing with knee soreness, but at the time of writing this article, it's unknown if that will affect his ability to play in tonight's game. Victor Wembanyama and Devin Vassell are questionable, with Keldon Johnson also having hamstring soreness. If all of them miss tonight's game, it could be another game where the Spurs are short-handed on talent, but playing with a full complement of toughness and swagger. With the leadership of Chris Paul and Harrison Barnes, this team is always fun to watch even if games where they are overmatched on paper. They always play hard, and it's always great to see guys who haven't played much get a chance to shine when called upon. [Charles Bassey, I'm looking at you.]
