The Spurs look for their first NBA Cup win tonight against the Western Conference leaders

Welcome to the Game Thread. Veterans of the Game Thread know how we do things around here, but for all you newbies we have a few rules. Our community guidelines apply and basically say be cool, no personal attacks, don't troll and don't swear too much.

The Spurs play their second NBA Cup game of the 2024-2025 season tonight, against the conference leading Oklahoma City Thunder. OKC lost Chet Holmgren to injury for at least two months with a fracture of his hip after a hard fall on November 10. That injury, combined with injuries to their backup bigs is forcing the team to play smallball, which is something they're actually pretty good at.

Both the Spurs and Thunder are coming off losses to the Mavericks but the Spurs have a slight rest advantage tonight, with two days off compared to OKC's one. If Wembanyama is out again tonight with a knee contusion, the Spur won't have their biggest advantage, so it could be another difficult night for the Silver and Black. The Spur have shown the ability to beat good teams and lose to bad teams, so let's hope they can pull off the first scenario tonight.
