Highlights: Eight Spurs scored in double figures in loss to Bulls
01/07/2025 10:40 AM
The Bulls have now won six straight against the Spurs.
Coming off a tough OT loss to the Denver Nuggets this past Saturday, the Spurs looked to get back on track with a win against the Chicago Bulls. For 46 minutes, it looked like the Spurs were on track to take care of business. They even held a 19-point lead at one point. Unfortunately, like many road games this season, the Spurs had late-game lapses. The Spurs not only let their lead slip away in the fourth quarter, they allowed the Bulls to close the game on an 11-0 run. They ultimately lost the game 114-110.
Victor Wembanyama had a near triple-double with blocks: 23 points, 14 rebounds, and eight blocks. He also dropped four assists. He shot 9 of 22 from the field and 4 of 11 from three. Wemby has shown he can have great offensive showings, but he needs a decent backup center so doesn't have to play 35 minutes a night.
One of Vic's eight blocks came on a recovery at the rim on Nikola Vucevic!

Chris Paul had a solid game with 18 points, nine assists, and six rebounds. After struggling from the field in the last stretch of games, it's nice to see CP3 have a bounce back game.
Pull-up transition three? YESSIR!

If the loss to Denver was disappointing, then this loss is a complete letdown. As mentioned above, blowing a 19-point lead to a team that can't decide if they're tanking or competing is unacceptable. Spurs fans have to be hoping for some trades in the coming weeks because this team needs a backup center and a strong number-two scorer.
Finally, here are the full game highlights.
The Spurs take on the Milwaukee Bucks on the road this Wednesday at 8:30 P.M. (CST) on ESPN.
