Every time the Spurs made a run, the Celtics countered. Also, the Spurs were outrebounded 54-35.

Coming off a tough loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Spurs returned home to face the Boston Celtics. The Celtics were in full control from tip-off, leading by nine after the first quarter, leading by 12 at half, and extending their lead to 17 in the third. The Spurs cut it to single digits in the fourth, but every time the Spurs made a run, the Celtics' talent was too much. Bosron outrebounded the Spurs 54-35 and won 121-111.

Keldon Johnson led the squad with 23 points, six rebounds, and three assists. He shot an efficient 9 of 12 from the field and made an impact with his downhill drives to the rim. Despite his poor game vs the Pistons, KJ continues to be scorching hot off the bench — inside the arc, at least.

TAKE HIM TO SCHOOL! KJ crosses up rookie Baylor Scheierman and finishes off the glass!

BIG B0DY AND-ONE! KJ cuts to basket and finishes in stride despite contact from Kristaps Porzingis!

K3LDON! KJ's three from the top of key came late in the third to put him at 18!

Stephon Castle had a solid game with 22 points, eight assists, two rebounds, and a steal. Steph continues to apply the finishing touches to his ROTY mantle. His consistent willingness to drive and force contact will make him a future star. Here are his highlights in X/Twitter form and YouTube form!

Jeremy Sochan dropped 18 points, eight rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Even though he shot an unusual 4 of 12 from the field, Jeremy was 10 of 12 from the free-throw line. He and Steph were constantly forcing contact at the rim that kept the Spurs within striking distance.

Doing it on both ends! Jeremy strips Jaylen Brown on one end, and finds himself under the basket for the layup on the other!

Another cut, another two points! Chris Paul and Jeremy run the P&R and it results in a deuce for Jeremy!

Chris Paul dropped 12 points, five assists, and five rebounds. CP3 started off by getting others involved, but by the time the fourth quarter hit, CP3 was making clutch shot after clutch shot.

TOO SLOW! CP3 puts the hesitation move on Luke Kornet and easily gets by for one of the easiest layups of his career!

STEPBACK! CP3 hits the stepback three over Sam Hauser in the fourth!

BACK-TO-BACK CLUTCH BUCKETS! CP3 takes Hauser and Kornet to school again for more clutch jumpers in the fourth!

Sandro Mamukelashvili dropped six points, two rebounds, and a block. Mamu's lone three was a bullseye from the wing! Catch and shoot badge is at least silver if not bronze.

The Spurs showed grit against the defending champs. However, their lack of rebounding and size in the paint continues to be their downfall. Regardless, their performances against back-to-back championship contenders should not go unnoticed. They have hours until a quick turnaround later tonight against another playoff team in Golden State.

Finally, here are the full game highlights.

The Spurs take on the Golden State Warriors on a SEGABABA tonight at 6:00 P.M. (CST) on FDSN-SW.
