Former Grantland writer Kirk Goldsberry's post visualizes each of Wemby's baskets

Kirk Goldsberry, esteemed writer and current teacher of Sports Analytics within the McCombs School of Business at the U. T. Austin, posted a great graphic on Instagram last week, creating a visualization of Victor Wembanyama's first 50-point game from November 13, 2024 against the Washington Wizards.

"Proud of these visualizations in my new Wemby piece. Thanks to @vannabushong@nba sportradar Todd Whitehead and all the folks @ringer link in bio"

From 2012-2015, Goldsberry worked for ESPN and wrote for Grantland. He then joined the San Antonio Spurs as their vice president for strategic research in 2016, leaving in 2018 to return to writing.

A few years ago Kirk Goldsberry wrote Sprawlball: A Visual Tour of the New Era of the NBA, a book discussing the inefficiency of shots taken between the restricted circle and the three-point line.

Personally, I watched this post on repeat for ten minutes doing my best to grasp each move Wemby makes.

Enjoy.
