The team rallies around their swingman as the road trip heads through his hometown

Last night the San Antonio Spurs defeated the Atlanta Hawks by one point in the second gasme of the 2025 Rodeo Road Trip.

The night before, Georgia native Devin Vassell was honored at his high school. The 2018 Peachtree Ridge High School grad became the first player in the school's history to have his basketball jersey retired.

Vassell, born and raised in Lawrenceville, Georgia, a suburb of Atlanta, attended Peachtree Ridge in Suwanee, just 10 miles away. As a senior, he averaged 21.6 points and 8.9 rebounds. Devin was named the regional Player of the Year by the Gwinnett Daily Post.

Vassell was surrounded by family and friends, including some familiar faces.

Members of the San Antonio Spurs were there to support Vassell as the community honored him.

Reminiscent of when Stephon Castle got his NCAA Championship ring, Vassell's jersey celebration underscores just how much this team supports one another and how they are gelling and growing together.
