Spurs announce Silver and Black Scrimmage on Saturday, October 19

You know the new season is about here when the Spurs announce the Silver and Black Scrimmage! However, in a change from years past, instead of being before the preseason, it will be on Saturday, October 19, between the preseason finale on Oct. 17 and regular season opener on Oct. 24. It will also be a free but ticketed event instead of walk-in due an anticipated high attendance. Per the Spurs' official press release:
Spurs fans are invited to the free 2024-25 Silver & Black Open Scrimmage, presented by Ticketmaster, at Frost Bank Center on Saturday, Oct. 19 at 5 p.m. The San Antonio Spurs will take the court for four 10-minute quarters, giving fans the chance to preview the team in action ahead of their Saturday, Oct. 26 home opener against the Houston Rockets. Tickets are free and are required for entry – see details below and online at Spurs.com/OpenScrimmage.
Fans in attendance can take advantage of specially priced $2.50 draft beers and $1 soft drinks. In addition, they have a chance to get new Spurs gear at a 15% discount in the newly renovated Spurs Fan Shop inside the arena. Parking for the event will be free in Lots 1-7 and doors will open at 4 p.m.

The Silver & Black Open Scrimmage will be ticketed due to anticipated high demand. To be eligible to receive free tickets, fans must complete the following steps:
- Join the new Official Spurs Fan Club presented by Netspend and enter to win at Spurs.com/OpenScrimmage or by texting SCRIMMAGE to 210-444-5940
- Both new and existing Fan Club members will need to enter to win through the above link
- Deadline to enter is Sunday, Oct. 6 at 11:59 p.m.
- Each fan is eligible to win up to four free tickets while supplies last
- Winners will be notified by Monday, Oct. 7
- Winners must claim their tickets within 72 hours of notification; if not, new winners will be selected
- All tickets are General Admission seating and cannot be transferred or resold.
Since the scrimmage is coming after the preseason, fans can likely anticipate full participation from all healthy players, so could add a new level of excitement to the event. (Although in this case, it won't carry that added bonus of being the "first" chance to see new players such as Chris Paul, Harrison Barnes and Stephon Castle.)
