The San Antiono Spurs have max cap space and surplus draft picks to make a major transaction this offseason to accelerate their timeline of contention around Victor Wembanyama, but ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reports that is not their plan.

"They may get their co-star next year. Not this year," said Wojnarowski during ESPN's coverage of the second roud.

Wojnarowski also discussed how the Spurs possess the ability to pursue a player like Paul George with their cap space. Later in ESPN's telecast when addressing George's free agency options, Wojnarowski again mentioned the possibility of the Spurs being in on him.

There have also been links to the Spurs' potential interest in either Dejounte Murray or Trae Young, but there were reportedly no discussions on a deal involving their picks leading to the draft.
