Rounding up all Warriors and NBA related news for Wednesday, September 11th.

In today's Dub Hub:

While the 2024 Paris Olympics perfectly showcased Steph Curry's brilliance on the court, it also highlighted how much of a global icon he is off the court. His worldwide popularity was further highlighted as Curry arrived in China on Tuesday for the start of his 2024 Curry Brand Tour. The Golden State Warriors superstar was welcomed with a massive reception, with fans lining the streets, taking pictures, and cheering as he made his way through the crowd.

Curry and fellow Curry Brand ambassador De'Aaron Fox are in China to promote their new signature shoes. Curry will be revealing new colorways for the Curry 12s, while Fox debuts his first signature shoe with the brand.

The Q&A: Steve Kerr talks Team USA, Warriors' next chapter and more | NBA

How did you leave it with the guys who didn't play so much, specifically Jayson Tatum and Tyrese Haliburton?

Those guys were all great. Jayson handled things so well. Then obviously it became a media subject, but he couldn't have handled it better. Tyrese, same thing. Every game was different. And we talked about that from the first night – 12 superstars and probably only nine can play consistent minutes.

They handled themselves really professionally and pulled for each other. I couldn't be prouder of them all.

So when you go into Boston this season on Nov. 6 (7:30 ET, ESPN), how are Celtics fans…?

I think they're going to be all over me. [laughs]. That's fine.

Ranking: The Top 100 players in the NBA for 2024-25 | Hoops Hype

14. Steph Curry (Golden State)

This may seem like a bit of a low ranking for superstar point guard Stephen Curry. After all, he's coming off 3rd Team All-NBA honors, just won Clutch Player of the Year, was an All-Star and put up over 26 points and five assists per contest on 40.8 percent shooting from three.

But despite his impressive production, the Golden State Warriors missed the playoffs for the second time in the last four seasons. Plus, Curry's next season will be his age-36 campaign, so if we project a slight drop-off for the former two-time league MVP and progression from other promising young point guards like Haliburton and Brunson, Curry's place on this ranking starts to make more sense.

Even so, we expect Curry to remain among the elite of the position in 2024-25 and challenge for All-NBA honors once more. We just think that the next campaign might be a bit of a passing-of-the-guard season in the point-guard hierarchy in the NBA.

Potential Los Angeles Lakers Trade Targets This NBA Season | Bleacher Report

The Warriors recently extended Steph Curry, but he's still technically trade-eligible this season. If Golden State falls apart this season and Curry pushes a trade to the Lakers, it's challenging but possible.

The same can be said of Kevin Durant and the Phoenix Suns. The Lakers may not intend to chase a star with a massive contract, but Curry and Durant would probably be exceptions if they somehow became available.

Speaking of the Warriors, James and Davis have a strong relationship with Draymond Green (on the Klutch Sports band). There may be no intel now that he's available, and while the Lakers need a center, do they need a smaller, older, non-shooting one? Still, Green is worth keeping an eye on if Golden State flounders.

NBA expansion will be on table, just not yet, Silver says | ESPN

"There was not a lot of discussion in this meeting about expansion, but only largely not for lack of interest, it was that we had said to them that we're not quite ready," Silver said at his news conference at the conclusion of the meetings Tuesday afternoon at a luxury midtown Manhattan hotel.

"It was something that we told our board we plan to address this season, and we're not quite ready yet. But I think there's certainly interest in the process, and I think that we're not there yet in terms of having made any specific decisions about markets or even frankly to expand."

ESPN exec on Charles Barkley: 'I would be lying if I said we weren't interested' | The Athletic

ESPN's chief of content, Burke Magnus, said Tuesday he would be interested in bringing Barkley to the network if he were available. Asked at a Front Office Sports conference in New York if he could see a world with Barkley at ESPN, Magnus said he could.

"Yeah," Magnus said at the "Tuned In" conference. "That would be a perfect world. … I would be lying if I said we weren't interested in Charles. The entire industry is interested."

NBC chairman Mark Lazerus said he would also have interest in Barkley. NBC will start broadcasting the NBA next season.

NBA approves rule that expands Coach's Challenges to out-of-bounds violations

In case you missed it at Golden State of Mind:

Kevon Looney hopes to expand his game, says 'it's time' to shoot more threes

Kevon Looney has long been a reliable presence for the Golden State Warriors, but entering his 10th season, the 28-year-old big man is ready to expand his game.

Known more for his defense and rebounding, Looney hasn't provided the offensive versatility that would maximize his partnership with starter Draymond Green in the frontcourt. This limitation led head coach Steve Kerr to reduce Looney's minutes last season, even resulting in the end of Looney's 290-game iron man streak.
