The Los Angeles Lakers pursued a trade for Dejounte Murray trade during the 23-24 season and they have reportedly maintained an interest in him still.

"One name they did pursue last season at the trade deadline that I think teams around the league expect to come up again in trade conversations over the next week or so, and makes sense for the Lakers, is Dejounte Murray with the Hawks," said Shams Charania on Friday's episode of the Pat McAfee Show. "The Lakers have maintained a level of interest in Dejounte Murray over the last several months."

The Hawks face a decision both at No. 1 in the draft, but also what direction they go in with either keeping Murray or Trae Young. The Hawks could make that determination based on the value of both players on the trade market.

Murray and the Hawks signed a four-year, $120 million extension during the 2023 offseason. Murray is represented by Rich Paul and cannot become a free agent until 2027 with his player option for 27-28.

Young has three seasons and $138 million remaining on his five-year, $215 million max contract signed in 2021. Young is represented by Aaron Mintz and Drew Morrison of CAA.
