The Dallas Mavericks have had a busy trade deadline, by adding Anthony Davis and Caleb Martin. In a recent appearance on Run It Back on FanDuel TV, Sam Amick of The Athletic gave some insight on what could be forthcoming for the Mavericks this summer.
Dallas has their eyes on potentially pursuing Kevin Durant or LeBron James in the offseason. Durant's situation with the Phoenix Suns is one that bears watching, as he was made available in trade talks ahead of the deadline.
James would have to pick up his player option, then likely ask for a trade to Dallas. The Mavs aren't like to have the ability to sign James outright, if the veteran superstar opted for free agency.
The idea is that Mavericks GM Nico Harrison could put together a familiar third star with Davis and Kyrie Irving. Durant has previously played with Irving on the Brooklyn Nets, while Davis and James were teammates until the last week with the Los Angeles Lakers.
